Review Sessions
Review sessions are designed for hands-free listening while still giving you control over how you rate your memory.
How review mode works
- The app plays the front of the card.
- You answer out loud or in your head.
- The app plays the back, then asks you to rate how well you remembered it.
Spaced repetition algorithm
Audio Flashcards schedules cards based on your rating:
- Easy/Correct: Shows less often.
- Good/Neutral: Returns on a balanced interval.
- Hard/Wrong: Appears sooner to reinforce memory.
This adaptive schedule keeps sessions efficient and focused on what you need most.
Hands-free listening session
Use headphones or Bluetooth speakers and keep your phone in your pocket. You can enable voice cues or large on-screen buttons for quick ratings between cards.
Review options
You can customize sessions in Settings > Review Session Preferences:
- Autoplay: Automatically advances after a timed pause.
- Casual Mode: Listen without tracking statistics or affecting scheduling.
- Reverse Order: Play answers before questions to mix up recall.
- Loop: Keep sessions going even after all cards are reviewed. You can also enable haptics in Settings > Vibration and Haptics for tactile feedback. Autoplay sessions record a neutral rating by default.
Voice commands (beta)
Control sessions by voice with commands like next, easy, good, and hard. In Settings > Voice Commands (beta) you can:
- Download a speech model for your language.
- Customize command aliases.
- Test recognition before starting a session.
Algorithms and personalization
Audio Flashcards includes multiple spacing algorithms. You can set a default algorithm or choose one for a specific folder to match your learning style.
