Finding Your Way Around
Audio Flashcards has five tabs and a handful of controls that behave the same on every screen. Once you know them, you can find anything.
The tabs
| Tab | What it is for | Covered in |
|---|---|---|
| Review | Your saved sessions, how many cards are due, and Start now. | Review Sessions |
| Library | Every folder and card you own. | The Library |
| Shared | Community decks, decks shared with you, and decks you publish. | Shared Cards |
| Statistics | Activity, grade mix, upcoming workload, and library growth. | Statistics |
| Search | Finds cards by name, by the words spoken on them, or by tag. | Search |
Controls you will see everywhere
The + button. The round button at the bottom right of the Library and Review tabs creates things: New Card, New Folder, and Import…. On the Review tab it also offers New Review Session. Anything it creates in the Library lands in the folder you are looking at.
The ⋯ menu. The button at the top right of every tab. It always ends with Sign In (or Your Profile once you are signed in) and Settings. Above those it shows actions for the screen you are on — in the Library, for example, Flagged Cards and Tagged Cards, or the open folder's Folder Settings, Review, Share, and Rename.
Long press. Press and hold any card, folder, or saved session for everything you can do to it. Nothing happens until you pick an item, so it is a safe way to explore.
The cloud button. Beside the ⋯ menu on the Library and Review tabs. A tick means every file in your library is on this device; a download arrow means some are still only in iCloud. Tap it to see progress or Download All. See iCloud Sync.
Settings
Open ⋯ > Settings. Rows are grouped by what they affect:
| Group | Contains |
|---|---|
| Speech | Text-To-Speech (voices for text-to-speech) and Transcription (transcribing recordings). |
| Review | Voice Commands and Session Behavior (Highlight Spoken Words, Allow Rating Before Revealing the Answer, Haptics, Keep Screen on During Review). |
| Library & Storage | Flags & Tags, Manage Storage, iCloud (Apple), Backup & Restore, Library Check. |
| Help & Support | Getting Started, Help (these docs), Rate and Review App, Contact. |
| Purchases | Manage Purchases. |
| Legal | Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions. |
Review behaviour that belongs to a particular session — autoplay, timing, voice commands on or off — is not in Settings. It is saved with the session itself. The Settings Reference lists every row and what it does.
Getting started
The first time you open the app, it introduces itself with four short lessons. Each one runs in the real app, so the card you make is a real card. Do them in any order:
- Try a card — hear a question, recall it, reveal the answer, and grade it.
- Make my own card — turn a question into your first audio card.
- Try hands-free — let cards play by themselves, or control them with your voice.
- Organize cards — give your growing collection a home in folders.
Skip it if you prefer. Settings > Getting Started opens it again whenever you like.
Getting help
- Settings > Help opens these docs.
- Settings > Contact emails support. Including the steps that led to a problem makes it much easier to fix.
- The FAQ and Troubleshooting pages answer the common questions.
