The Library
The Library tab holds everything you own: folders, the folders inside them, and cards. Folders nest as deeply as you like and can sit side by side with cards at any level.
- Sort and view — Name, Kind, Modified, Review Due, Sides; Icons or List
- Linked folder — A downloaded collection — read-only
- Card tile — Side count, with badges for flags, tags and iCloud
- Long press any item — Review, Folder Settings, Share, Rename, Move
- Add to the library — Import, New Folder, New Card
- Sort, sync and app menu — Sort and view; iCloud downloads; Flagged and Tagged Cards, Settings
Arrange what you see
The sort button in the top bar, beside the ⋯ menu, arranges the current screen:
- Sort By — Name, Kind, Modified, Review Due, or Sides.
- View — Icons for a grid, or List for rows with extra columns.
Each item carries small badges when they apply: a link for a downloaded collection, a flag or tag, the folder's language, a red mark for a deactivated folder, and its iCloud download state.
Create a folder
- Tap + > New Folder.
- Name it and tap Create.
The folder is created inside whichever folder you are viewing. A little structure early saves scrolling later:
- Subject > Topic — Biology > Cellular Respiration
- Language > Level — Spanish > A2 Vocabulary
- Goal > Scenario — Interview Prep > Behavioural Questions
Every folder can be reviewed on its own — long press it and choose Review to focus the Review tab on that folder — so organising by what you would want to drill separately pays off.
Item menus
Long press a folder or card for its menu:
| Folder | Card |
|---|---|
| Open | Open |
| Review | Rename |
| Folder Settings | Move |
| Rename | Tags ▸ |
| Move | Download Card |
| Download | Multiple Select |
| Multiple Select | Delete |
| Delete |
When you are inside a folder, its own actions — Folder Settings, Review, Share, and Rename — are in the ⋯ menu, so you do not have to go back up a level to reach them.
Move, select, and delete
- Move one item: long press, Move, and pick a destination. You can also drag an item onto a folder.
- Work with several: long press one item and choose Multiple Select, tap the others, then use Move or Delete in the bar at the bottom. Select All is there too.
- Delete removes the item and everything inside it. You are asked to confirm first.
Inside a downloaded collection, cards and subfolders cannot be renamed, moved, or deleted one by one; the collection's own folder can still be moved or deleted as a whole. See Linked folders.
Folder settings
Long press a folder and choose Folder Settings, or open the folder and use ⋯ > Folder Settings. Changes save as you make them.
Folder Language
The language you expect to hear on each side of this folder's cards. It tells speech recognition what to listen for when it transcribes your recordings, which is what makes them searchable and lets their spoken words be highlighted during review.
- One language applies to every side (shown as All Sides).
- Several languages apply to sides in order: the first to the question, the second to the answer, and so on. Sides beyond the last language use the last one.
- Subfolders inherit their parent's languages unless they set their own.
- No language at all falls back to the Global Language in Settings > Transcription.
For a Spanish vocabulary deck with English answers, set Spanish then English.
Deactivate Folder
Excludes the folder, and everything inside it, from review sessions and statistics while leaving it on your device. Use it for material you have finished with, or have not started yet, without deleting anything.
Color
Tints the folder's icon so you can spot it at a glance. Purely visual.
Collections that cut across folders
At the top level of the Library, the ⋯ menu offers Flagged Cards and Tagged Cards. They gather marked cards from every folder, so you can open or review them together. See Flags & Tags.
Files not yet on this device
If your library lives in iCloud, some cards may exist in iCloud but not yet on this device. They show a download badge and Download to view. Long press one and choose Download Card (or Download on a folder), or fetch everything at once with Download All from the cloud button in the toolbar. See iCloud Sync.
