Shared Cards

The Shared tab is where decks move between people. Browse what the community has published, open collections someone shared with you, and see the collections you have published yourself.

Search shared cards looks through collection titles and descriptions.

Before you download

Tapping a collection opens its page rather than downloading it. There you will find its description, who Uploaded by, the number of Cards, its Revision, whether it is Public or Private, and any Languages, Subjects, or Difficulty its author added. Tap the author to see their profile and other public collections.

Most useful is Preview: expand any card and play its real audio. A deck can have perfect questions and a voice you cannot stand for twenty minutes. Listen to two or three cards before you commit.

Download a collection

Tap GET. The collection downloads into your Library as a linked folder, and the button changes to DOWNLOADED. Open in Library at the bottom of the page takes you straight to it.

A collection you published yourself shows YOURS instead.

Get updates

Publishers can release new revisions of a collection — corrections, new cards, better audio. When one is available, the collection's page shows UPDATE in place of DOWNLOADED. Tap it to bring your copy up to date.

Your review history belongs to you, not to the collection, so updating never resets your progress on cards you have already studied.

Linked folders

A downloaded collection stays linked to where it came from, which is what lets updates arrive. While it is linked:

  • You can review it, flag and tag its cards, and see their statistics.
  • You cannot add, edit, rename, move, or delete the cards and folders inside it. A card's ⋯ menu reads Linked · Read Only.
  • Its folder language and colour follow the original, and it cannot be deactivated.
  • The collection's own folder can still be moved elsewhere in your Library, or deleted.

To make a downloaded collection your own:

  1. Long press the collection's top folder and choose Folder Settings.
  2. Tap Unlink Collection and confirm.

The folder becomes an ordinary folder you can edit. It no longer receives updates from its source, and your review progress stays exactly as it was. This cannot be reversed, other than by downloading the collection again.

When someone shares a collection with you privately, they send you a link.

  1. Open the link on a device with Audio Flashcards installed. It opens the app.
  2. Sign in if asked.
  3. The collection appears under With Me, ready to download.

The owner can revoke a link or remove your access at any time. Copies you have already downloaded stay on your device.

Your account

An Audio Flashcards account is needed only for Shared Cards — to see With Me and By Me, open private links, and publish. Everything else in the app works without one.

To sign in, open ⋯ > Sign In on any tab. You can continue with Apple, sign in with Google, or enter an Email address and tap Email Me a Code to receive a one-time code instead of creating a password.

Your profile

Once signed in, ⋯ > Your Profile shows your profile. Tap Edit to change:

  • your photo and Name (display name),
  • About, a short introduction that supports simple formatting, and
  • Profile page — Public, so anyone can open your profile and browse your public collections, or Hidden. Your name and photo still credit collections you publish either way.

The profile screen is also where you Sign Out, or Delete Account and Data, which permanently deletes your account, profile, and every collection you have published. People who already downloaded your collections keep their copies.

Report a collection

At the bottom of any collection you did not publish is Report Collection. Use it for content that is broken, misleading, or does not belong in a study catalogue. Reports go to a moderator, and need an account: if you are signed out, the app asks you to sign in first. You can have one open report per collection.
